At the May AGM, we welcomed two new Board Members and said farewell to Br. John Casey and Br. Dean McGlaughlin.
In May, we hosted an Open House at Edmund Rice House for Dublin-based Brothers. The event was an opportunity to thank Brothers for their support over the years, and to give an update on how we work with Edmund Rice Mission.
Last year, we launched our Strategic Plan. In 2023, we worked together to implement the first year of this ambitious plan.
We pay our condolences to the friends and family of Br. Peter Clinch, who unexpectedly passed away on January 28. Peter served as congregation leader since 2022, and was a Member of Edmund Rice Development.
This past January, ERD facilitated a weeklong Gender Equality training in Nairobi, Kenya. The first three days covered a range of gender related topics, while the final two days featured a Training of Trainers programme with 10 participants from around the ER network.
As part of the Capacity Development project, ERD has been implementing a gender equality project funded by Misean Cara this year.
In October, Br. Tino D’Abreu from Edmund Rice International visited the Latin America Mission Area to strengthen the collaboration between ERI and the Defensoría Edmundo Rice project, which promotes and defends human rights and social justice in the region.
After many years of working with the Justice Desk Africa, I finally had the opportunity to visit South Africa in November and see the project in action!
We were delighted to have Brothers John Paul Oluoch and Sammy Munyua from Edmund Rice Ministries in Eldoret, Kenya and the Western Cluster in Zambia respectively visit the Edmund Rice Offices while in Ireland in August.
