Welcome to the Mary Rice Centre
The Mary Rice Centre transforms the lives of many young people with physical and intellectual disabilities and their families living in the Kibera slum of Nairobi, Kenya.
"Those children – when they see what they can do; to know how to read and write, to count, they’ve been empowered. It enables them to have a sense of their own dignity and self-confidence and self-respect. It gives us hope." -Gerald Mgalula, Director of the Mary Rice Centre
The Mary Rice Centre provides education in basic learning skills, training in prevocational and vocational skills, therapy services and an outreach programme. It also supports the parents of the children through skills trainings and income-generating activities in bead work, tailoring and dressmaking.
Support from our donors has enabled projects like the Mary Rice Centre to continue to transform lives. We hope you consider joining us on our journey by making a gift to the ERD IMPACT 10 appeal.
ERD IMPACT 10 commemorates 10 years of ERD’s support of Edmund Rice Mission by highlighting the impact of the work of our partner projects. ERD works closely with our partner projects on the ground in developing countries to invest in young people, empower women and collaborate with local communities.
