Meet Margaret from the Ruben Centre

Posted on 30 October 2018
Margaret Kariuki from the Ruben Centre, Kenya

Margaret Kariuki, featured in this video, was born in the Mukuru Slum in Nairobi, Kenya. She was given the opportunity to be educated at Ruben Primary School in Mukuru where she excelled. The Ruben Centre gave her a scholarship to secondary school to continue learning. After graduating from college, she found her way back to the Ruben Centre where she now works as Public Relations Manager.

“Sometimes I sit back and wonder if they never gave me an opportunity to go to school, where would I be. Ruben Centre gave me education. Surely, who I am today is because of Ruben Centre.” - Margaret Kariuki

The Ruben Centre gave Margaret a quality education and the tools to transform her life. Her story is just one of thousands of lives transformed by Edmund Rice Mission. Over the coming months, we will be highlighting stories from our partner projects which show the direct impact Edmund Rice Mission has had on individual lives.
