ERD Announces Five Year Strategy

ERD Strategy 2017-21

During 2016 ERD engaged in an in-depth strategic review process – looking at every aspect of our operation and exploring how we can better work with our partners and supporters to ensure the greatest possible impact of Edmund Rice Mission. Our sincere thanks must go to all our partners and supporters around the world who contributed so valuably to the review process, which was facilitated by Ian Williams of Caplor Horizons.

Our Organisation

The resulting ERD Strategy 2017-21 represents our transition to a development agency fully dedicated to the liberation of people and communities from poverty and injustice. ERD’s core purpose is to collaborate to support the sustainability of Edmund Rice Mission by sourcing funding, building donor engagement and working with our partners in mission to improve development capacity and maximise impact. We are committed to transparency and accountability, and to an efficient, effective operation that impacts positively on the lives of people made poor.

Our Mission

Edmund Rice Mission focuses on the liberation of people and communities. Edmund Rice responded to the marginalised of his time. Today, through compassionate presence and seeking mutual transformation, Edmund Rice Mission promotes human rights and fullness of life for all, especially those made poor. Edmund Rice Mission is shaped by the Sustainable Development Goals1 – 17 global goals including those to eradicate extreme poverty for all people everywhere, and to ensure that all girls and boys complete free, equitable and quality primary and secondary education by 2030.

Our Strategy

Our new strategy sets out how Edmund Rice Development can better support Edmund Rice Mission as we work together for the liberation of people and communities. We will ensure people living in poverty are at the centre of everything we do and every decision we make. This new strategy is our opportunity to build on the good work of the past, and to support Edmund Rice Mission in the three areas of Community Development, Education and Advocacy.

We would like to thank our members, directors, partners and supporters for journeying with us through this strategic review and look forward to working with you towards the liberation of people and communities over the coming years.
