We have a vacancy for a Development Executive to manage and develop ERD’s relationships with schools, donors and other supporters. This is a permanent role, based in Dublin. POSITION TITLE: Development Executive

REPORTS TO: Chief Executive

TYPE OF ROLE: Permanent, Full-time Position

BASED: Dublin 1, Ireland

SALARY: Commensurate with experience

 

Position Summary:

The Development Executive will play an important role within a small, dynamic, committed team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining excellent relationships with ERD’s existing private donor and supporter base, and for growing this base through new fundraising initiatives and donor relationships.

Background:

Edmund Rice Development (ERD) www.edmundricedevelopment.org is a development agency established in 2008 in Ireland by the Congregation of Christian Brothers and governed today by an independent board of directors. ERD is dedicated to the liberation of people and communities from poverty and injustice. We collaborate to support the sustainability of our partner projects by sourcing funding, building donor engagement and working with our partners to improve development capacity. ERD is committed to transparency and accountability, and to an efficient, effective operation that impacts positively on the lives of people made poor.

Our work supports a network of international development projects and programmes in the areas of Education (formal and informal), Community Development and Advocacy across Africa (9 countries), India, Latin America and Asia-Pacific. ERD provides funding and development support to 44 partner projects, benefiting over 56,000 people each year in 13 countries across Africa, India, Latin America and the Pacific Rim.

In 2016 ERD defined a new five year strategy. In order to help fund the expansion of our work the strategy sets an objective of increasing current private donor levels from €300K to €1 million p.a. by 2021.

The Role:

Primary duties include:

  1. Build long-term, sustainable relationships with new and existing private donors, network of Edmund Rice/ CBS schools and other supporters.
  2. Coordinate and manage Edmund Rice Development’s existing private donor fundraising initiatives including direct mail appeals, fundraising/ cultivation events and private donor funding proposals.
  3. Develop and implement plans for new fundraising and cultivation activities to broaden the existing private donor and school supporter base and increase funding levels.
  4. Coordinate ERD’s communications programme to ensure existing and new private donors, schools and other groups are kept engaged, up to date and informed on the impact of their support – via the Edmund Rice Development website, social media pages, impact reports and other communications channels.
  5. Develop a plan for the enhancement of the Edmund Rice Development website, and social media channels to ensure that they effectively engage our stakeholders and are effective in communicating the reality of Edmund Rice Development’s work today. Oversee the implementation of the plan within the ERD team.
  6. Ensure all private donor funding records are well maintained and work with the team to manage the overall relationship ensuring all donor stewardship, reporting and other requirements are met.
  7. Other duties and projects as assigned by the chief executive.

 

Required Competencies and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ proven experience of fundraising or business development within a results-based organisation, project or operation.
  • Demonstrable experience and success in developing and maintaining strong supporter relationships.
  • A creative approach, with the ability to generate new ideas and initiatives, and to follow these through to implementation.
  • Excellent planning, project management and organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks both on an individual basis, and with a team of people in the field and at head office.
  • Ability to source, coordinate and manage volunteer support.
  • Self-motivation, with an ability to take initiative.
  • Fluent English.
  • A relevant degree or post-graduate qualification.
  • Excellent I.T. skills – specifically in MS Office.
  • Full, clean drivers’ licence.

                                          

Other Desirable Competencies and Experience

  • Experience working or volunteering within the not-for-profit sector.
  • A demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex and dynamic cross-cultural setting.
  • Use of relationship databases or software e.g Salesforce, Raisers Edge etc.
  • An interest in International Development or experience working in an International Development environment either as an employee or volunteer.

 

Reporting to the chief executive, this is a permanent position (subject to the satisfactory completion of probation period). Salary commensurate with experience will be agreed with the successful candidate. Based at our offices at Edmund Rice House, North Richmond Street, Dublin 1, Ireland, the role will involve some international and domestic travel. Candidates must be in a position to travel to meet supporters, and employee car parking is provided at the place of work in Dublin 1.
