Together for a Brighter Future
This year once again schools, groups and communities are coming together for a brighter future.
2015 is the first European Year of Development, a year that has challenged us to come together to make a commitment to eradicating poverty and to inspiring more people to become engaged and involved in development.
Groups can download one of our Together for a Brighter Future booklets. The booklet can be used to inspire conversation on development issues within classrooms, communities and groups. It seeks to shine a light on the challenges faced by people living in poverty, and tells the stories behind some of our partnerships and work going on to tackle some of the root causes of these issues in Africa, India and Latin America .
The booklet can be used in conjunction with a study of the Sustainable Development Goals to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all. The Sustainable Development Goals were adopted at a special United Nations Summit in September 2015 as part of a new global sustainable development agenda.
This work came to life in Ireland and Bolivia during the European Year of Development through the partnership of Midleton CBS and the Hermano Manolo Centre, in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Their inspiring story is featured on a short video, which can be used to evoke conversation in the classroom and in other group settings throughout the year.
